Noticed that amazing glass building on Latrobe Terrace? That would be our Geelong Tech School. While building works continue on The Gordon facade, the Tech School is officially open for business! Geelong secondary schools will utilise the facility to enhance student learning and work on industry-led projects in a high-tech environment.

The Rescue
This year’s Rescue was our biggest and best yet! With partner bay93.9 and a host of generous sponsors, we completed an awesome backyard make-over for Gemma and Josh Berry from Hamlyn Heights. Unfortunately, since their youngest son was diagnosed with cancer, weekly trips to the Royal Children’s Hospital have kept them super busy and out of the garden. The Gordon’s horticulture department came to the rescue, and the Berry’s now have a lovely child friendly backyard for their boys to play in.
Girls Big Day Out
As part of National Skills Week, we hosted over 70 local Year 9 girls at East Campus for
Girls Big Day Out. The day features trade taster sessions to give attendees a sneak peak into non-traditional roles for women. 79% of attendees said ‘the day would influence their future subject choices’, so keep an eye out for these future lady tradies! Big thanks to Fagg’s Mitre 10 for sponsoring the event.

We caught up with a few of our Cats students last week and asked them how their study was going; turns out teacher Bernie Smith is pretty popular, and flexibility is key!
